Frequently Asked Questions Cabin Crew and Pilot Interview Preparation
What do you cover during a One to One session? Whether you are applying for a pilot job or cabin crew job with Aer Lingus, Ryanair, CityJet, Stobart Air, British Airways, Easyjet, Virgin Atlantic, Emirates, Etihad or any other airline, our pilot and cabin crew one to one sessions are tailored to meet your specific requirements and will therefore change to suit you. We will establish which areas the interviewer is likely to ask you about, and then help you to develop examples to suit. We will help you to construct the answers in a format that the interviewer is looking for. We will cover competency, technical and organisational questions. We’ll cover questions that we’d bet money will come up in your interview! We will cover a range of other topics too, including discussing body language and techniques for dealing with difficult interview questions. We can also cover any areas that you feel would be of benefit to you personally. The session will last approximately two hours and is normally held in Dublin.
What is involved in the mock interview? Typically airline pilot interviews or cabin crew interviews will be panel interviews, with representatives from both Human Resources and either Flight Operations or the Cabin Crew department. At Aspire Aviation, we aim to replicate this situation and will use two interviewers for you mock interview. Many mock interviews are conducted with interview coaches or trainers that you will have met with, or talked with, before. We will ensure that at least one of the mock interviewers is unfamiliar to you, making the experience more authentic. The mock interview itself will last approximately 45 minutes, following on from which detailed feedback and coaching will be provided based on your performance. In total the session will last approximately two hours.
What do you charge? Our two hour, one to one sessions as well as our two hour mock interview sessions are €225 each, but when booked together are discounted to a total price of €400. This fee includes material to take away from the one to one session and covers any follow up emails or calls if you have any further questions. At Aspire Aviation, we feel that our fees represent excellent value for money and compare very favorably with other aviation interview preparation courses. Having potentially spent up to €100,000 on professional pilot flight training our interview training represents a very good value for money investment.
Who are your consultants? Our consultants have an average of 15 years operational experience within the industry as well as extensive experience in airline training and airline pilot and cabin crew recruitment. All are currently working with major European airlines. Our team is made up of active airline captains and senior cabin crew members, all of whom have recent airline recruitment experience.
Are you directly linked to any ATOs (Flight Schools) or airlines? No, we are a strictly independent aviation consultancy. We may, on occasion, work with client ATOs but our advice will always be independent and impartial.
When is the best time to start preparing for an interview? The earlier the better! We would suggest that you start preparing for your airline pilot interview or cabin crew interview as soon as you apply for the position. Ideally we will complete a one to one session with you well before the actual interview and complete our mock interview within two weeks of the actual interview date. We appreciate that circumstances don’t always allow for this and will work to fit your schedule. We have (successfully!) completed interview training with clients within 24 hours of their interview!
I have an interview for an airline instructor position (or a command upgrade interview or senior crew member interview), can you provide interview coaching for this role? Absolutely. We can tailor our one to one interview coaching sessions to your needs. Pilot instructor TRI/TRE interviews (or command upgrade interviews, cabin crew trainer or senior cabin crew member interviews) should be treated with the respect they deserve – they require serious interview preparation to ensure you perform to your maximum potential. We will establish the areas which the interviewer is likely to ask about and help you to develop well structured answers. Many candidates make the mistake of thinking that internal interviews are informal chats, generally this is not the case!
I have an upcoming selection day with FTE Jerez (or AFTA, NFC, CAE Oxford, L3 academy or any ATO) can you provide me with interview coaching? Absolutely. Please see the question on one to one interview training above. We will tailor our interview coaching session to cover the questions that the Flight School are likely to ask you.
I have an upcoming assessment day for a cadet pilot position, can you provide interview training? Yes, if you have an upcoming interview for an Aer Lingus Cadet position, British Airways Future Pilot Programme, Virgin Atlantic Cadet programme or CityJet Mentored Cadet Programme we can help you achieve your dream position. Competition for these cadet pilot positions is always intense, talk to us about interview coaching to stand out from the crowd!
Have you a list of airline pilot interview questions? Better than that! Rather than providing you with a list of hundreds of potential airline pilot interview questions, we will discuss interview questions specifically tailored to the airline position that you are applying for.
I have an interview for a non-flying aviation position, can you provide interview coaching to help me prepare? Definitely! We can adapt our interview training to the role that you are applying for. Whether you have an aircraft engineering interview, Operations Control Centre interview or any other upcoming aviation assessment, please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
